Another way to get backlinks for your niche website is by joining forums on the same topic, joining in on the discussions, and putting your top level niche domain URL into your signature line. This creates backlinks and will also lead to more traffic and sales. Finding forums in your niche is as simple as typing “niche + forum” into Google.

Along with creating backlinks, this forum strategy can also be used as a stand-alone method of generating sales. If you don’t feel like creating your own website and content, then after choosing your niche, use the forum approach to send traffic to an affiliate link to generate sales. This is also a great way to practice your writing skills so that you will be better able to write articles.

Make sure to read the forum rules. Some forums allow affiliate links in a signature line and some only allow a top level domain. In the latter case, you can either redirect to an affiliate page, or put up a simple one page blog with an article and links to your affiliate product.

Make sure your affiliate product and signature line matches the forum topic.

If you are having trouble finding a niche product. One method to use with forum marketing is to go to the Clickbank marketplace and look at the top two pages within each category. You can sort them by popularity, gravity, % earned per sale, and several other variables. As with any niche, you want to look for high interest and low competition. Sort by popularity and then look for a higher gravity product, but not too high as that indicates too much competition by other affiliates. Greater popularity indicates a higher percentage of sales are being made by affiliates (as opposed to the product vendor) and gravity is the number of distinct affiliates who are making those sales. Gravity is also weighted in a way that adds more value for sales made most recently within the latest 8 week period. Here is an example of a product I found that has a gravity above 100, but was #12 in popularity for its category, indicating that the competition is not too high.

Regardless of what marketing approach you end up using, the important thing is to set aside some time each day to apply your strategy. Be consistent, test, apply what works and discard what doesn’t.
