Another factor in determining your niches competition besides looking at the keyword
search results in Google, is to look at the quality of your competition. Sure, you want
your long tail keywords to have a lot of searches compared to the number of competing
websites, but does the analysis stop there?

Once you have found your long tail keywords, you should also test the quality of the
competing websites. Essentially, how many backlinks do the top ten sites for the
keyword in question, have. Are they links that contain keywords? Are they from high PR sites? Google looks to these backlinks as votes that elevate your sites importance and
the more relevant the backlink, the more weight it has in the determination of the site’s
position in the search results.

At 215 Cool SEO Tools (select Our Network, SEO Tools), you will find some free programs to help you check any website’s backlinks. Once you see the top ten results in Google for your keyword, you can also use Yahoo to see how many backlinks a site has. Just type link:URL into their search bar to see how many backlinks the site has.

Here are a few more tools to help you get quality backlinks to your sites:

  1. Comment Kahuna - The lite version is free and helps you find niche related blog sites to post comments in.
  2. Real Link Finder - A free tool by Neil Shearing. Similar to Comment Kahuna.
  3. Comment Sniper - The full version is currently free (don’t know how long that will last). This program allows you to search for a list of niche related blogs and subscribe to their feeds so you are notified on your desktop when a new post is made. This gives you an edge for being one of the first to make a reply comment because more people will see your comment (which has your site link).
  4. 3waylinks - This service costs just under $50/mo and automatically builds backlinks to your site in a natural progressive way. You can use this service with up to 50 top level domains, so it works out to less than $1/mo per domain to get more than 240 keyword varied backlinks for each site.
  5. 215 Cool SEO Tools - As mentioned above, this site has many free tools, but if you look at their menu of services offered on their home page, they have a very affordable selection of submission services for articles, directories, and social bookmark sites.
  6. BuyBlogComments - The title says it all, but make sure you read this case study by Jonathan Leger before you purchase. Not all blog comments stick.
  7. Social Bookmarking - Here are a couple of free sites to help you build social bookmarking backlinks: Social Marker and Only Wire.
  8. Social Media Inspector - This software program is similar to Comment Kahuna and Real Link Finder except that it does not look for blogs. What SMI does is uncover and list high PR Squidoo lenses and Hubpage hubs so you can leave comments and get indexed and ranked. These social media page backlinks are much more powerful than blog comment backlinks. It’s good to diversify your link portfolio with all of the tools listed on this post, but SMI is the most powerful.

One important aspect of getting backlinks is to use your keywords as the anchor text, but you don’t want to use the same keyword for all of your backlinks. They need to be
varied somewhat. Also, don’t buy into backlinking schemes that offer thousands of
instant backlinks all at once. Your backlinks need to be added gradually over time (human pattern) so that Google will not penalize your site.

In summary, look at your competitions backlink strategy to determine if you are able
to get into the top ten search results for your chosen keywords. This is probably more important than what the total number of competing pages are. Then, use free or paid tools to help you start building your backlinks in a natural progressive pattern. Use a
variation of keywords for your backlink anchor text. If you’ve done your research correctly, you should begin ranking high in the search engines within a couple of months or sooner.

Finding a niche with hungry buyers and then isolating the best keywords are the
most important steps in niche marketing. However, many people struggle even more
with writing original articles and it can get expensive to hire others to write them for you.

There are many types of software available to help “spin” or change articles that are
already found online, but most of these only create articles that no human would be
able to comprehend. There is one notable exception that I feel comfortable recommending. It is called Instant Article Wizard and it is more of an article research
tool that brings all of the key ideas & benefits of your topic from the internet and
displays them on your desktop. This makes writing your article introduction, body,
and conclusion a breeze. No spin necessary with this tool.

The creator of this software, Jonathan Leger, has created a great video where he
demonstrates Instant Article Wizard in action. Watch as he writes a high quality
article in less than 8 minutes. This software is an important tool for any niche marketer who struggles with writing articles. Even if you know little or nothing about your niche
topic, this software will help you look like an expert. Most importantly, you will be
able to target your site content to keywords that bring traffic to your web pages.

Instant Article Wizard is where original quality content meets automation. It is simple,
yet efficient, allowing you to free up your valuable time. Look, you can spend $100 a
month for PLR (private label rights) article content that is being shared with hundreds
of other marketers and you end up having to rewrite most of it anyway. Why not spend
a smaller one time fee and create your own higher quality articles that only you have
access to? It’s a smart choice to pick the latter.
